1.2 D-U-N-S® Number

1.2.1 What is the D-U-N-S® Number?

The D-U-N-S® Number is a unique nine-digit identification sequence that provides unique identification of single business entities while linking corporate family structures together.

The WWN links the D-U-N-S® Numbers of parent companies, subsidiaries, headquarters and branches of all the members of a corporate family around the world. Used by the world's most influential organisations, it is recognized, recommended and required by more than 200 global companies, industry and trade associations, including the United Nations, the US Federal Government, the Australian Government and the EU Commission.

1.2.2 What is the value of the D-U-N-S® Number?

In the current global economy, the D-U-N-S® Number has become the standard to track companies globally. By adding the D-U-N-S® Number to your global marketing, risk and purchase lists, you can use the information you already have and turn it into valuable information for your decision-making process. Combining your company's internal data with the information provided by Informa D&B and the WWN, as well as other data in the market, you can create an added-value information source within your own organisation.

In risk management, the D-U-N-S® Number can link a customer's files to their parent companies to have a better global risk perspective of a unique corporate family. This knowledge of the corporate structure helps prioritise debt collection efforts and manage credit limits in a smarter way.

In marketing databases applications, the assignment of D-U-N-S® Numbers allows the customers to use demographic information provided by Informa D&B and the WWN to create profiles of their client portfolio, identify the best of them and thus create a suitable profile to locate twin companies with the same features.

In purchase management, the D-U-N-S® Number enables a better knowledge of your suppliers, helping you identify duplicate records and providing information on linkages of your suppliers' corporate families. This knowledge will help you improve your bargaining power, cut costs outside the purchase process and reduce the number of duplicate suppliers globally.

For companies with an e-commerce strategy, the D-U-N-S® Number can be used to identify suppliers, business partners and customers. Any companies that want to be recognised as credible online services providers can use their D-U-N-S® Number as an identifier, allowing their potential customers to verify their credentials before initiating a business relationship.

1.2.3 How is a D-U-N-S® Number assigned?

The D-U-N-S® Number is assigned locally by Informa D&B in Spain and by the companies that are part of the D&B WWN in every country. When a company is first entered into the business information Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud (Data Cloud), Informa D&B assigns that company a nine-digit number that is unique and cannot be assigned to any other company, entity or business.

Each number has a control digit that avoids its duplication. When a number is assigned to a company, it will remain its number even if the company stops its activity or changes any of its legal characteristics.

1.2.4 How is a D-U-N-S® Number obtained?

Obtaining Dun & Bradstreet's D-U-N-S® Number is completely free for your company and will help your customers and suppliers to get in business with you. Some providers even require it from their customers. The D-U-N-S® Number is a nine-digit code assigned by Informa D&B to identify each company. However, D-U-N-S® Numbers will not be assigned to general departments in the same location (i.e. R&D department) or to points of sale outside the company (i.e. vending machines).

To obtain your company's D-U-N-S® Number, please contact our Customer Service Department.

1.3 D&B Rating

1.3.1 What is the D&B Rating?

D&B Rating is a guide that helps you to quickly and easily determine the financial strength and risk level of commercial transactions with a company. It has two main components: Financial Capacity and Risk Indicator.

The Financial Strength Indicator evaluates a company's financial productivity and is based on the financial data/figures available (updated at a specific moment).

In the event that the balance sheet is available, the equity constitutes the base made of a number and a letter, for example, 5A.

If there are no available balance-sheets, the total assets or the paid-up capital for the evaluation will be consulted. It is defined by a number and a double letter, for instance 5AA.

Financial Strength Euros
Net Worth Paid-up Capital From To
5A 5AA 50,000,000
4A 4AA 25,000,000 49,999,999
3A 3AA 10,000,000 24,999,999
2A 2AA 2,000,000 9,999,999
1A 1AA 1,000,000 1,999,999
A AA 500,000 999,999
B BB 250,000 499,999
C CC 150,000 249,999
D DD 100,000 149,999
E EE 50,000 99,999
F FF 25,000 49,999
G GG 10,000 24,999
H HH   9,999
N Negative Equity
When the company has a negative equity after deducting the material assets.
OR Undetermined
When there is no Equity or Paid-up Capital available.
NB New Business
When the company has been created recently (less than a year ago).
NQ Cessation of Activity
When the company has ceased its activity.

Dun & Bradstreet's Failure Score is based in the D&B Score (Failure Risk):

The D&B Score is calculated for companies in more than 20 European countries. It uses up to 22 different criteria and they are used as simple multiplying entities within a specific algorithm with the corresponding assessment. The result is reflected in a 1 to 100 scale in the D&B Score. With subsequent analysis, the specific classes are calculated for Dun & Bradstreet's Risk Indicators.

Risk Indicator Risk level Key
1 Minimal Risk You can engage in business transactions with the company. If necessary, long-term payment conditions can be offered
2 Low Risk You can engage in business transactions.
3 Slightly above average risk You can engage in business transactions but follow the evolution of the company closely.
4 High Risk Before extending credit, take safety measures, such as personal guarantees.
- Insufficient information to assign Rating There is no record of the company's business activity.

The calculation formulas of the D&B Score are updated periodically in order to adapt it to any changes in the economic environment. This task is carried out by the designed partner of the D&B WWN in each country (Informa D&B in Spain), so that it takes the most out of the knowledge of the local economy. Thus, both the D&B Score and the other predictive indicators are calculated considering the peculiarities of each local market.

Informa D&B's rating has been marked as level 1 according to Dun & Bradstreet's rating standards, which is the highest rating available.

The last update of the calculation formulas in the D&B Score for Spain was carried out on 23 June 2017.The update of these formulas is reflected both in the reports obtained through DBAI and in other products marketed by Informa D&B in Spain, as well as in follow-up news. When a D&B Score calculation formula is updated for any country, all products of that country that include a D&B Score will be affected by the update. For instance, if the D&B Score in Italy is updated, the change will be reflected both in reports on Italian companies and in the follow-up news for companies in that country.

1.3.2 Which are the variables used in the D&B Rating model?

The model that calculates Informa D&B's rating is based in two sub-systems:

  1. Statistical analysis model for companies with available financial information.
  2. Intelligence system model for all the other companies and economic agents.

The elements taken into account to obtain the rating are divided in 4 areas:

The information provided by these elements is valued and added with a risk indicator, the rating, which measures the likelihood of a company ceasing its business activity.

In the statistical analysis model, a point assignation mechanism is chosen, where each variable considered as relevant provides, divided by stretches, a predefined scoring.

In the intelligence system model, the experience of more than 20 years in the information market in Spain is used to grant scores to companies according to multiple variables.

1.4 D&B Score

1.4.1 How should the D&B Score be interpreted?

The D&B Score is an indicator based on a scale from 1 to 100 that predicts the likelihood of a company to cease operations without paying all creditors over the next 12 months. A company with a score of 1 will have a very high risk whereas a company with a score of 100 will have a minimum risk of failure. That score is based on an algorithm developed using state-of-the-art statistical techniques and considering the information provided by all the companies registered in the WWN's Data Cloud for each country.

1.4.2 How is the D&B Score calculated for Spain?

The D&B Score is a percentile that measures company risk in the Spanish Data Lake, where 1 represents companies with a higher probability to cease business and 100 represents the lowest. For example, when a company has a score of 10, this indicates that 90% of the remaining companies in the Spanish Data Lake have a lower chance of cessation.

The D&B Rating provides an indication of creditworthiness based on the D&B Score. The rating is divided in two parts:

  1. The Financial Strength Indicator - derived from the Equity of the company.
  2. The Risk Rating - Calculated using the cessation model.

A D&B Rating of 2A 3 indicates that a company has an equity between 2,000,000 and 9,999,999 euros and slightly above average cessation risk

1.4.3 What is included in a report's Sector comparison section: D&B Rating and D&B Score?

If there are enough data to calculate it, in this section you will receive:

  • A company's score development graph requested in a period of 24 months compared to its sector.
  • A summary of the company's financial strength indicator requested compared to the sector indicator.
  • A risk comparison of the requested company compared to the same sector companies based on the D&B Score.
  • If there are not enough data available to perform the calculation or the requested company's Score must be eliminated (for instance, if the parent company has a rating of 4), it shows the sectorial comparison values, but not on a graph.

1.4.4 Are all companies taken into account for the Sector comparison: D&B Rating and D&B Score?

All companies except for those newly established or ceased (as in these cases it cannot show a significant indicator of financial strength) are considered for the sectorial comparison.

1.4.5 Why is it necessary to improve the D&B Score periodically?

It is necessary to review the D&B Score's calculation method from time to time in order to maintain its predictability. This review entails adapting the formula to the local economy situation, so the D&B Score accurately reflects reality and remains useful over time.

INFORMA is responsible for performing this review in Spain. Internationally, each local member of the WWN is responsible for maintaining and renewing the formula to calculate the D&B Score of their market.

    1.5 Maximum Credit Appraisal

1.5.1 What is the maximum credit and how is it calculated?

The credit appraisal offered by Informa D&B establishes the maximum business credit recommendation to be granted in the short-term, understanding that the company, in normal circumstances, would be able to pay it before the expiry date with the resources generated with its ordinary activity.

This figure can be between 0 and 6,000,000 euros, the latter being the maximum limit according to caution and systematic information update criteria.

Any credit recommendation issued by INFORMA is automatically calculated according to the risk of cessation determined by INFORMA.

In order to calculate the credit limit, the following factors are taken into account:

Dun & Bradstreet's maximum credit appraisal is not comparable to a bank credit or loan. Banks can usually offer higher loans because they tend to have much more detailed information.

    1.6 Paydex Score

1.6.1 What is the Paydex Score?

The Paydex Score is a numerical indicator that rates the payment performance of a company from 0 to 100. A business that normally pays its bills on time upon the agreed terms on the contract will have a higher Paydex Score and those that pay more slowly will have a lower Paydex Score. For example, a Paydex of 80 means that a company pays its invoices promptly. A Paydex of 20 means that it makes its payments up to 120 days beyond terms and a Paydex of 100 means that it pays its invoices in advance. Payment information is derived from the experiences of current payments that feed INFORMA's databases as well as the databases of the other companies in the WWN thanks to the Dun-Trade ® program.

    D&B PAYDEX Score Payment Behaviour
    90+ Advanced / Discount
    80 Prompt
    70 15 days in arrears
    50 30 days in arrears
    40 60 days in arrears
    30 90 days in arrears
    20 120 days in arrears
    UN Not available
1.6.2 What is a payment experience?

A payment experience is the sum of all the pending invoices in a specific date, which means that it can be the sum of two invoices but also of more than 1000 invoices. Investigations give as a result an average of approximately 7 open unpaid invoices. The pending invoices are constantly uploaded so that they are available online in the Dun-Trade ® program to help determine the average payment behaviour of a company in the following 12 months. Contact your agent in INFORMA or the customer service department if you wish to participate in the Dun-Trade ® program.

1.6.3 When is the Experiences' Analysis graph not shown in the Payment Information Section of the reports?

The graph is always available if there is at least 1 payment experience (= 7 open invoices on average).

1.6.4 When is the company's payment evolution graph not shown in the 'Payment comparison within the sector' section?

In DBAI reports, the payment evolution graph is only shown when there are, at least, 1 to 3 payment experiences available (1 payment experience = 7 open invoices on average).

1.6.5 What information is included in the following section: Payment Comparison within the Sector?

This section provides information about a company's payment behaviour compared to the overall sector's payment behaviour. The sector's payment behaviour is based on companies of which INFORMA has payment experiences' information.

If payment experiences/Paydex for the requested company and sector are available in INFORMA's Data Lake, the graph includes the company's and industry's tendency in terms of payment behaviour for a period of up to 24 months.

If there are no Dun & Bradstreet payment experiences/rates available for the requested company but only for the sector data, the graph will only include the payment trend section of the selected company and the information box will only include the payment behaviour/payment rate in the industry.

    1.7 Dun-Trade ® program

    1.7.1 What is the Dun-Trade ® program?

The Dun-Trade® program is an information exchange between Informa D&B and the participating company about the payment performance that company's clients, free of charge and fully confidential for both parties.

INFORMA uses the information to include the payment experiences of the participant companies' clients in the Data Lake, in a statistical way and without linking the client to the participating company, to improve the quality of the information provided in the market in its business reports.

The WWN has been collaborating with thousands of participants in the United States and Europe for more than 30 years, sharing payment experiences for the benefit of the corporate community in general and of our clients in particular.

1.8.1 Which countries are included in each fare zone?

International reports in DBAI are categorised in 8 fare zones, depending on the geographical area of the requested company:

    2.4 Companies' Investigations

2.4.1 How can I request an investigation in DBAI?

You can request an investigation for a specific business if:

  • The business that you are looking for is not in the search results' list.
  • You have a special question on this specific company. To request an investigation, click on the 'Investigation' link on the final page of the search results. This will take you to the 'Investigation' screen. Please provide as much data as possible for the search.
  • When requesting an investigation about a company, you will see a new screen named Investigation Confirmation, which shows the following:
  • A unique investigation reference number
  • Your user-specific reference
  • Information on the expected speed of delivery
  • Details on how the report will be delivered
  • For investigations on European companies, you can request the following priority: Urgent/E-mail: You will receive the report within 2 or 3 working days, with a supplement in units.

Investigated reports have the format of a Standard Report.

2.4.2 How will I receive the investigated report?

Investigated reports are delivered by default in the 'My reports' section in the 'My Portfolio' menu, and they are also sent via e-mail. That is why it is so important that we have your updated e-mail address. Reports are stored in 'My Reports' for 30 days.

The e-mail address that we use to deliver investigated reports is the one in the 'User Profile' section inside 'My profile' menu.

If you wish to change the chosen delivery method for your investigated reports, you can do so in the 'User Preferences' page under 'My Profile' menu.

2.4.3 What is the cost of an investigation?

Informa D&B is constantly collecting data with the aim of offering our clients immediate available information. Our Score & Rating algorithms are programmed to work dynamically whenever new data is received or when certain data ages to a point where it may impact decision-making regarding a company. Keeping that in mind, the cost of an investigation depends on both the type of report and the delivery time you request. Under certain circumstances you can request a free investigation (this is always clearly stated on the report). The 'urgent' delivery of any investigation will always have an extra charge.

2.4.4 Why can't I see the existing information on this company without requesting an investigation?

This situation can occur because Informa D&B's Data Lake has registered an incident called 'STOP DISTRIBUTION' for the requested company. There are many reasons why this might happen, all of which stemming from our commitment to deliver complete, accurate and verified data. As an information provider, we are also subject to supervision by data protection officials, which may impact our ability to immediately deliver data.

If you have found yourself in this situation, you can contact us to confirm whether the incident has been solved and how much time will it take us to make the data available again.

2.4.5 Why is it necessary to include additional information when requesting an investigation?

The more‎ information you provide when requesting an investigation, the better the chances for us to locate the business and obtain the information you need. Telephone numbers, official identification numbers (CIF/NIF), line of business and directors' names are particularly helpful.

In the event that the business was identified but the information we delivered is not enough to cover your needs, please let us know which specific data you need us to review.

Oftentimes, business shareholders may obtain information about planned changes which are not yet common knowledge, such as changes in director positions. If you want to verify a specific piece of information or need further information that is not usually included in our reports, then please use the comment fields to elaborate on your specific needs. This will enable us to be more helpful in your decision making.

2.4.6 What kind of additional information do I need to provide when requesting an investigation?

The more information you provide the higher the likelihood for us to deliver the information you need.

A comment such as 'Please review the contents of the report' could be considered a routine data check.

Specific questions or comments such as 'Expansion plans of this brand in Hill St. Birmingham, UK' or 'Check if they are in the process of merging with XXX company', allow us to ask specific questions and will probably allow us to provide more precise answers.

2.4.7 How long does it take for an investigation to be delivered?

Informa D&B always aims to fulfil your requests as fast as possible because we are well aware of the importance of data in decision making. However, the service speed depends on two major factors:

  • The requested priority service (normal or urgent).
  • The location of the company.

2.4.8 How can I find out the status of an investigation?

When a business investigation is requested, a new page titled 'Investigation Confirmation' is displayed. This page provides:

  • A reference number for the investigation.
  • Your user's reference.
  • Information on the expected delivery speed.
  • By default, the updated report will be e-mailed to the addresses provided in the 'User Profile' page. This report will also be stored in 'My Reports' for 30 days (this section can be found inside the 'My Portfolio' menu).

If you need to know the status of a pending investigation, contact us and please indicate the Investigation Reference Number provided on the 'Investigation Confirmation' page.

    2.5 Monitoring Service

2.5.1 What features are included in the Monitoring system?

When the Monitoring Service is activated, the notifications on a business' changes will be sent by e-mail, which will help you manage them and receive them on the user's preferred option.

You can manage the monitoring news from DBAI / e-Portfolio in order to exploit the full potential of the information gathered:

2.5.2 What are the changes in My News and Latest Updates?

'My News' shows all the monitoring news delivered to all users under your subscriber number, while 'Latest Updates' shows the changes that have been specifically delivered to your User ID.

Both pages work the same way:

    1. The news are shown on both pages. The news are sorted first by unread news, and then by read. The second priority in the classification is the date. Unread messages are marked in black and the icon shows a closed envelope. Unread messages are not in bold and its envelope appears open.
    2. You can click on 'Change Type' to view the detailed monitoring news, or on 'Company Name' to instantly see the current risk data on this company.
    3. If, after activating any changes, you decide that you do not want to see the selected news again, you may hide them by clicking on the verification boxes and then clicking on 'send'.

Please note that they disappear from the screen, but they are not really deleted, so you can see them again by selecting 'View All My Hidden News'.

2.5.3 How can I delete Monitoring News?

Automatically. Monitoring news are automatically deleted 1 month after the delivery date.

2.5.4 What happens if I decide to hide a piece of news? Can I see it again?

You can choose to hide a piece of news in 'Latest Updates', in the 'Monitoring News' tab that is in the Company's details, as it is shown below.

News will only be hidden by user ID. Any other user with your subscription number will keep seeing them in 'My monitoring'. Hidden news are not deleted and can be shown again if desired by selecting 'See all hidden news' or 'See my hidden news' from the drop-down lists at the top of these pages.

2.5.5 What kind of information will I find in 'My Monitoring'?

In 'My Monitoring' module inside 'My Portfolio' tab, you will be able to search companies for which the Monitoring Service has to be renewed in X months or all the companies for which the Monitoring Service has been activated.

For each company being monitored you will have the following information available:

Note: The system does not allow multiple users to update the same cases, even though they get access at the same time. If a user makes a selection of cases and another user makes the same selection at the same time, the user that clicks first on 'Accept' will cancel the other one's possibility to make the same operation.

If you exit the page without clicking on 'Accept', the changes will not be saved.

2.5.6 Can I review or change the actions already taken in the Monitoring Renewal screen?

Yes. The 'My Monitoring' page that appears in the drop-down menu 'My Portfolio' allows you to 'review companies with monitoring service'. Select this option to see the records that have already been processed.

You can correct your actions up to one day before the expiry date of each Monitoring record.

2.5.7 Why is the total from 'Latest Updates' and 'My Monitoring News' different?

'My Monitoring' shows all the monitoring news delivered to all users under your subscriber number, while the 'Latest Updates' will only show changes that have been especially delivered to your User ID.

2.5.8 How can I cancel a Monitoring Service?

The easiest way to cancel the online Monitoring Service is through the 'My Monitoring' page (see 2.5.5) or by accessing the 'Details of the Company' page of the company that you do not want to monitor anymore, and click on the 'My Information' tab.

Once in that page, you will be able to check that in the 'Change the options of the Monitoring Service' section there is a new option called 'Cancel Monitoring' or 'Cancel Monitoring and Premium', where you will be able to select 'Cancel immediately', in which case the Monitoring Service will be immediately cancelled or select 'do not renew Premium Service' on the date stated.

If you click on 'Cancel immediately', a new window will be opened with detailed information about this cancellation.

After confirming the cancellation of the Monitoring, the 'My Information' page will be updated and show the confirmation of the cancellation and the corresponding date.

Cancelling the Monitoring Service entails the following:

  • You will no longer receive notifications about critical changes affecting this company.
  • Premium Service will be immediately cancelled. This means that any further consultation of that company's report will be charged.
  • You will no longer see updated data on Risk Indicators and trends on either the e-Portfolio search results or the Business Details 'Overview' tab.
  • You will be able to delete this company from your e-Portfolio.
  • Please note that:

    1. The only way to recover the Premium Service is by requesting a new Report and Monitoring service with additional charge.
    2. The cancellation option implies that you will stop receiving e-mails about a company immediately, but if there is unused credit in the Monitoring Service, you will not get it back.
    3. On the other hand, if you are interested in keeping receiving Monitoring News until the Monitoring period of a company expires, you can choose not to renew the Monitoring Service in the annual renewal process, two months before the renovation date. The Monitoring renewal date can be checked in the 'My Information' page, in the 'Purchased Products' section. In this example shown above, we can check that the monitoring was requested on 14/02/2014 and that it is due for renewal on 14/02/2015.

2.5.9 How can I delete a company from my e-Portfolio?

Deleting a company from e-Portfolio does not have the same meaning and results as cancelling the Monitoring.

Cancelling the Monitoring means that the monitoring period for a company has come to an end, but the record of that company will still appear on e-Portfolio.

A deletion entails the total disappearance of a company from the e-Portfolio. In order to delete a company from your e-Portfolio, it cannot have the monitoring service activated.

To avoid accidental deletion of a company, the deletion option is only available when a business does not have the Monitoring or Premium Service activated.

If you want to delete a business with the monitoring service activated, you will need to cancel the monitoring service first and then delete it.

To delete a company from your e-Portfolio, you need to access the 'Details of the Company' page of that business and click on 'My Information' tab.

The 'Requested products' section offers the option to 'Delete all references of this business from my e-Portfolio'. You need to tick that box. After that, you will need to confirm the deletion process and the company will be immediately deleted from your e-Portfolio.

Please keep in mind that the report requests without Monitoring Service will be automatically deleted 13 months after the date of the last request.

2.5.10 What are the consequences of cancelling the Independent Monitoring?

Cancelling the Monitoring Service before the end of the 12-month pre-paid period has the following consequences:

  • You will no longer receive Monitoring notifications about critical changes affecting that business, and the units of the period left unused will be returned.
  • A new option will appear in the 'My Information' page, which will allow you to delete the company on your e-Portfolio.
  • If you want to continue receiving notifications of changes until the 12-month period ends, but you do not want to renew the Monitoring for the following 12 months, then you will have to wait until 2 months before the renewal date and then cancel the Monitoring registration in 'Automatic renewals' page.

2.5.11 What are the consequences of cancelling Premium Monitoring?

Cancelling the Premium Monitoring before the end of the 12-month pre-paid period has the following consequences:

  • You will no longer receive Monitoring notifications about critical changes affecting that business, and the units of the period left unused will be returned.
  • You will no longer see updated Risk Indicators and trends information on either the search results page or the Business Details 'Overview' tab.
  • A new option will appear in the 'My Information' page, which will allow you to delete the company on your e-Portfolio.
  • The only way to recover the Premium Service is by requesting a new Report and Monitoring service with additional charge.
  • If you want to continue receiving notifications of changes and accessing to the free reports until the 12-month period is up, but you do not want to renew the Monitoring Service for the 12 following months, then you will have to wait until 2 months before the renewal date and then cancel the Monitoring registration in the 'Automatic renewals' page.

    2.5.12 Why can't I delete a specific company from my e-Portfolio?

To avoid accidental deletion of a company, the deletion option is only available when a business does not have the Monitoring or Premium Service activated.

If you want to delete a business with the monitoring service activated, you will need to cancel the monitoring service first and then delete it.

2.5.13 How can I reduce the number of companies in my e-Portfolio? Why can't I find some companies in my e-Portfolio?

You may be interested in removing old businesses from your e-Portfolio to keep it updated. That is why there are features that allow you to:

  • Delete any business from your e-Portfolio at any time. For example, if you no longer have an active relationship with a particular business. For further information on how to delete companies from the e-Portfolio, please click here.
  • Manage the size of your e-Portfolio, helping you automatically delete any companies of which you have not requested anything in the last 13 months. The companies that have the Monitoring Service activated will remain in your e-Portfolio.
  • 2.5.14 Why are some businesses marked for deletion instead of being automatically deleted?

In most cases, when you request the deletion of a business, it is deleted immediately. If you have requested a report or cancelled the monitoring service on the same day, the deletion of the company can take up to 2 hours. Companies are then marked for deletion and will disappear from your e-Portfolio.

    2.5.15 e-Alert

e-Alert is a service that is activated by default when a report with no Premium Service is requested. In the 12 months following the request of the report, you will receive a message in your e-mail that will notify that there has been a change in the consulted company.

e-Alert notifications are used to keep track of a company that has been consulted. These notices will warn you that there has been a change, but it will not give you any details, so if you want to delve into those changes you will have to request the report for that company again.

You can cancel the e-Alert service in the 'Details of the Company' page of the company that you want to delete and click on the 'My Information' tab.
In the 'Requested products' section, there is an option called 'Cancel e-Alert service' with a box you must tick. By doing that, you will stop receiving this company's changes notifications.

    2.6 Premium Service

2.6.1 What is the Premium Service?

The Premium Service allows you to check an updated copy of the requested report (comprehensive, standard or compact) any time you want during 12 months at no extra cost.

When you activate the Premium service, the Monitoring Service is activated simultaneously.

The free access to the report will be for the same purchased report level. If you need to consult a higher-level report, only the price difference between the products will be charged. Once you request a higher information level, this level will be activated by default for the Premium service.

2.6.2 How is the Premium Service activated?

The Premium Service is activated in the Reports request page by choosing 'Add to the Premium Service for the next 12 months' in your e-Portfolio options.
If you request 'Monitoring without Report', the Premium Service will not be activated, and if you want to gain access to it you will need to request a report later on.

If you have already requested a report for a company before activating the Premium Service, you will need to request a new report and activate the Premium Service.

2.6.3 How do I know when my Premium service expires?

Your Premium service expires when the Monitoring Service for that company expires. The registration date can be checked in the 'My information' section, located in the 'Company Details' page, and the expiry date can be found in the 'Monitored Companies' page.

Our Monitoring Service is programmed to automatically renew all monitored companies unless the service is cancelled before the renewal date comes up.

2.6.4 Can I request a higher level of information within the Premium Service?

Yes. For instance, if you have activated the Premium service for a Compact Report, you can request a Standard or Comprehensive Report and the price difference between the two reports will be charged on your account. A higher information level request can be made at any time throughout the period that a business has the Premium Service activated, and it will be valid until the expiry date of the Monitoring Service for that company.

    3. How does DBAI work?

    3.1 User Profile

3.1.1 How can I update my personal data on DBAI?

We kindly ask you to please keep your personal data updated. In order to do so, please follow the following instructions:

Click on 'My Profile' in DBAI's tool bar, located at the top of the page. You will find 'User profile' and 'User preferences'. 'User profile' contains the user's and their company's details, as well as the e-mail address. Please keep this field updated in order to receive notifications correctly.

'User preferences' allows you to modify your preferences regarding Informa D&B's information, such as notifications, products references, Premium Service, etc.

    3.2 Locating companies

3.2.1 How can I easily find a company on DBAI?

3.2.1 How can I easily locate a company on DBAI?

In order to obtain the best results on your searches, please read the following tips and recommendations:

  • Searches on business names only may lead to poor results, especially when the company name is a common name, contains words like 'international' or descriptions of the line of business. We recommend you add the location of the company as additional information.
  • If possible, try to avoid abbreviations.
  • Write the name of the company without mentioning the legal form or line of business.
  • The search result can generate a list of companies with more than one page, so please check if the result you are looking for is included in one of the pages.

3.2.2 Why does the search results page show company names that are really different from the name I am looking for?

Our search process is complex and uses a range of information that may not be displayed on screen. For instance, we try to match the name you provide, not just with registered business names, but also with trading styles, acronyms and former business names in our database.

However, it is possible that the search results do not provide the result you are looking for. If that happens, please try another search with different criteria which may produce a more effective result, such as the Tax Identification Code, the D-U-N-S number or telephone number.

3.2.3 Why can't I find a match for the business I am looking for?

There are a number of reasons that may explain this:

  • The business may have changed its name, location, owner, etc.
  • If the business you are looking for is relatively new, Informa D&B may not have received official publications/notifications about its registration.
  • Depending on the country and the specific legal framework, there is also the possibility that Informa D&B does not have information about the subject on the Data Lake yet.
  • In very rare cases it might mean that the company does not exist. If that were the case, you could ask for an investigation on that business. We would then check all the available data sources and try to contact the company to obtain the information on your behalf.

3.3.1 How can I request a product in DBAI?

Choose the country from the alphabetical list on the search engine.

    - Once you have checked that it is actually the correct company, please select the product that you need from the list and then click on 'Request'.

3.3.2 What happens if there are several report requests for the same company in DBAI in the same day?

If several Business Reports on the same company are requested in a 24-hour period, you will only be charged once for the most complete report.

    3.4 e-Portfolio

    3.4.1 What is the e-Portfolio?

e-Portfolio is an innovative concept developed by Dun & Bradstreet that allows you to control all requests in DBAI in a user-friendly way. This is the first step towards a comprehensive portfolio management solution. e-Portfolio provides two key advantages:

    1. The possibility to review an updated copy of the requested report at any time for the following 12 months, at no extra charge, provided that you have the Premium service activated.
    2. All your business reports and monitoring service requests in one place.
3.4.2 What are the benefits of e-Portfolio?

    e-Portfolio offers special benefits:

    - If you purchase a report and have the Premium service activated, you will be able to see the updated version for the next 12 months at any time and at no extra cost (Premium).

    - Presentation of the overall risk of your client/supplier portfolio as well as risk trends (with respect to Premium cases).

    - All your transactions in DBAI —business reports, Monitoring Systems and e-Alert records— are displayed by user in a central summary. This portfolio can be easily viewed and analysed using several criteria on the database:

  • Demographic data such as the company name, country, D-U-N-S, etc.
  • Risk Assessment (Dun & Bradstreet's Risk Indicator, Score, etc.)
  • Monitoring Notifications over a established period of time
  • Service and Product Level.
  • 3.4.3 When is the 'Current Risk Profile' graph updated in 'My e-Portfolio'?

The graph always shows updated information from companies with the Premium service activated. It is updated as the changes become effective, and it also reflects on new companies with the Premium service when they are added to your e-Portfolio.

3.4.4 What is the quickest way to find a company in my e-Portfolio?

The easiest way to find companies in the e-Portfolio is through the option 'Search in my e-Portfolio' in the 'My Portfolio' drop-down menu.

The Search screen allows you to find a specific company or a group of companies with a certain type of features according to the selected criteria.

Once you have selected your search criteria, the list of companies that fulfil those criteria will be displayed, and in that list, you can do the following:
  • Click on the column headings and sort the results in ascending or descending order.
  • Click on the D-U-N-S number or on the name of the company to go to the 'Company details' page
  • Check the companies with Monitoring Service.
  • Check the companies with Premium service activated and access directly to the free copy of the report.
  • Check the companies that are dormant.
  • Know the trend of the Risk Indicator of the companies with Premium service.
  • Know the current maximum credit of Dun & Bradstreet for the companies with Premium service.
  • See your comments on each company.
  • 3.4.5 How are the companies sorted in the e-Portfolio list?

Companies are sorted alphabetically by default. If you want to sort the list using other criteria, you just have to click on the column title.

3.4.6 How can I be sure that the risk exposure information I have on my e-Portfolio clients is completely updated?

e-Portfolio will display completely updated information on all the companies in your portfolio that have the Premium service (Report + Monitoring). So if you want to have access to the updated information of your clients, it is necessary to activate the Premium service for each of the companies that you are interested in. The following will be available for each company:

  • A graph with updated information on the risk of each company in your database.
  • A comparison of the current risk with the accrued risk for each of the companies in your portfolio, so that it will be easy to identify which sectors show an increasing risk and which ones have a better chance of expanding their business.
  • A quicker access to detailed summaries about the risk of each company, which will allow you to confidently make decisions faster.
  • Quicker and easier free access to all the reports in Informa D&B's Data Lake for twelve months. To make sure that your client database is configured with the proper access:
  • 3.4.7 How can I know what companies in my e-Portfolio have experienced Rating changes?

Access the search page on 'My e-Portfolio' by selecting the 'Search on my e-Portfolio' option (located in the menu 'My Portfolio').

After that, open the 'By recent monitoring news' menu and choose 'Rating' on the 'Type of Change' menu.

If you do not select any additional search criteria in other sections, the list that is displayed as a search result will show all businesses in your portfolio with the Monitoring Service enabled and for which you have received a notification about a change in their risk evaluation (favourable or unfavourable) within the specified time span.

3.4.8 How can I obtain a list of all the high-risk companies in my e-Portfolio?

Access the search page on 'My e-Portfolio' by selecting the 'Search on my e-Portfolio' option (located in the menu 'My Portfolio').

Then select the '4 (High Risk)' option from the drop-down menu in the 'Current Risk' field. Make sure that there are no other previous search criteria and click on submit.

The search result list includes all the companies in your e-Portfolio with a 4 Risk Indicator and Premium Service.

Note: Searches on risk or current risk trends are only executed on companies with Premium service, since it allows unlimited and on-going access to updated information.

3.4.9 How can I know what companies are no longer operational?

Access the search page of 'My e-Portfolio' by selecting the 'Search on my e-Portfolio' option (located at the menu 'My Portfolio'). The 'By Risk Indicator' search section should appear expanded.

Please enter the following search criteria:

  • 'Previous Risk' should be empty, so that it includes any original value into your search.
  • In the 'Current Risk' field, select 'No activity' in the drop-down menu.
  • The search result list includes all the companies in your e-Portfolio with Premium Service that were active at the time of the initial search but that have gone out of business now. The Premium Service allows unlimited access to updated information, such as the current risk evaluation.
